The Kano Literacy and Mathematics Accelerator (KaLMA) aims to build foundational Hausa and English literacy and numeracy skills for 51,711 primary 4 (P4) to primary 6 (P6) children, equipping them with foundational literacy and numeracy skills before they leave primary school. Using the dual-language approach and the TaRL approach.
The Kano State Universal Basic Education Board, Ministry of Education and Sa’adatu Rimi College Of Education, with support from TaRL Africa, the British Council and the UK Department for International Development launched the KaLMA pilot in 240 schools in January 2020.
